WorldFish recently hosted a seminar on “Fish Health Management”, organized in partnership with the feed company Skretting, on 16 December 2014 at WorldFish’s Abbassa Research Center in Sharkia, Egypt. Workshop explores the future of fish in Bangladesh
To develop future scenarios for Bangladesh’ fish food system, a two-day workshop (31 January – 1 February 2015) organized by the Department of Fisheries Bangladesh and WorldFish brought together experts across diverse fields including fisheries, aquaculture, nutrition, gender and trade. The workshop explored how the supply, demand and trade of fish may change over the next 10 to 20 years based on observed trends and drivers of change, such as sea level rise and population growth. Women fish retailers in Egypt are often forced to pay unofficial fees for their roadside market stalls. An interactive theatre project has helped boost the confidence and ability of these women to lobby their local government for retail licenses to protect their safety and rights as workers.
